01

Measure the current profile of your device

Connect your device to an Otii Arc Pro or Ace Pro and run it through a representative usage cycle — wake, transmit, sleep, repeat. Otii captures every state at high resolution.

The richer the cycle you capture, the more accurate the estimate. Depending on your use case, a few minutes of real behaviour is usually enough to cover all the device states.

Optimizing battery life of IoT devices

Create a device profile from the measurement

Mark the segments of your recording that represent each device state — sleep, active, transmit — and the Estimator turns them into a device profile. 

Adjust the duty cycle of each state to model different usage patterns: a sensor that wakes once a minute vs. once an hour, for example.

Configure a battery from an existing battery profile

Pick a battery profile — one you created with Profile & emulate, or one provided to you. Set the number of cells in series or parallel and the starting state of charge.

Run the estimator

Run the simulation. The Estimator combines your device’s load with the battery’s discharge characteristics — voltage drop, capacity, internal resistance — and returns a predicted runtime, plus a discharge curve you can export.

Change a parameter (different battery, different sleep duty cycle, different temperature assumption) and re-run instantly. No new bench time required.
